A win was the only result to keep the Magpies dreams of making a top two finish fro 2010. It turned into something of a nightmare however. They encountered a red hot Devils outfit who made the job that much more difficult playing a number of Broncos 20s squad members in their line up. It was an education for the young Magpies to compete against players who have experienced a more senior competition.

Souths Logan held off a determined, fast finishing Redcliffe to secure a 30-24 win down at a wet blustery Dolphin Oval on Saturday night. A good crowd got value for their money as play went from one end to the other. Tom Clark-Kennedy was first to score after good build up in the Dolphins half. Not to be outdone though the home team replied soon after as a result of some miscommunication in defence.

Souths Logan produced their most controlled performance of the year to dominate the home team. The Sunshine Coast team was pinned in their own half for long periods of time. An early barrage served to take plenty out of the Falcons making their reply less convincing. Their only respite being the long clearing kicks which was returned with interest from fullback by Kenny Hill.

A win helped warm the Magpie 18s after a match up against the Clydesdales in Toowoomba played in terrible conditions on Saturday night. Driving rain, cold and the last 15 minutes played under a heavy fog. The Souths boys were determined to play with better control of the football this week, a necessity with the state of the weather. Strong tackling was able to force the Toowoomba team into errors with the football like a cake of soap.

In something of an upset the Souths Logan Magpies went down to the Easts Tigers in a keenly fought contest at Brandon Park. The Magpies were forced to tough it out after losing Zach Lokeni within the first 5 minutes and Titako Sili halfway through the first half both to injury. Being forced to rotate and run wingers in the forward pack took some impetus off their battle up front with against an Easts pack with some size. The Tigers controlled their game much better in the first half and were able to camp for long periods in the Magpies half. The teams went to half time with Easts leading by only 16-6. A score that gave the magpies some confidence they could turn the game around if they had a better share of the football.
