EDDIE 043 - Hungry Like the Wolf
There's a bear in there and a panther as well, there's an official who howls and memberships swell. Yes the Edmeister is a poet. But that about sums up the past weeks.
Friday night at Davies for the young 'uns. Great crowd. And so there should be. Two great games of footy. The 18s was a nail biter. Two points in it. 2 minutes on the clock. Souths defending their tryline. Talk about tension. The scout has lost his nerve and ... well started howling. Howlin' like me bluey when the bitch next door's on heat. Hmmmm.... anyway. Someone did tell me that in a past regime the boys got in touch with themselves howling at the trees, the moon or whatever.
Got down to Pizzey on the weekend to watch the boys go round. Bugger me the ole panther was there. But now he's a bear... but he's selling stuff for the panthers. I'm not confused!
The Sherrif and his Deputy got the job done. I seen that glint in the Sherrif's eye after. The very same as in the eye of my dishlickers. He enjoyed first blood and he wants more. I tipped him up. Mate don't kick for the corners kick for the goal posts the fullback won't suspect that one. Let their 9 run with the ball allnight. He'll eventually get tired. Came up a treat. Tell you what, if I need someone to get to the bar when last drinks are called I'm slinging Brophs me dough. Got some serious wheels that boy.
Talkin' about wheels, the big marn has got himself a bus drivers licence. The boys were happy to hear that. Not so impressed when the trip to Reddy had the radio stuck on the horse racing. So it wasn't a case of hunching over the steering wheel for space he was riding that toyota hands and heels!
Heartening to see all the well wishers for the club have done the club proud and bought into the black and white club with the membership drive. Outstanding that a number of donations have come from ex players who were not Maggies. “What would the comp be without the eldest player” Thanks boys!
Three big games again this Sunday at home. Lower grades take on the Fins and the Cuppers take on Pride.
